At RTE Energy, we believe we have a duty to assess our impact on the environment and its residents, and to take action by making a positive contribution.

While our business focuses on energy efficiency, which is intrinsically positive, we strive to go beyond. We incorporate philanthropy, environmental conservation, societally-responsible and diverse labour practices, and volunteerism in our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy. We apply our policy into every aspect of our work, from project planning to delivery, and ensure the overarching themes of sustainable development are integrated company-wide.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION

We aim to continuously improve our  workplace environmental footprint whether it be through reducing printing, increasing our recycling efforts, eliminating hazardous cleaning products, or cleaning up a local park.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

We proactively make donations and aid organizations that help those in need, including during our annual holiday food drive.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Through our volunteer program, we give RealTerm Energy staff paid time off work so that they can volunteer and support causes they believe in, whether impacting their local community or the world at large.

Our Past Initiatives

Niagara-on-the-Lake

In Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, RealTerm Energy and our local installation company engaged Brain Injury Community Recovery Niagara to assist with the project’s recycling efforts. This local community organization helped us by hiring individuals with physical or other challenges and putting them to work in a progressive and cooperative environment to perform the more manual aspects of the recycling process (separating the metals from the other components in discarded streetlight fixtures).

Niagara Falls

In Niagara Falls, Ontario, we paired-up with our local installation company and donated $1 for every streetlight replaced to the Big Brothers Big Sisters Association of Niagara via the Bright Lights, Bright Futures

Earth Day 2018

To mark Earth Day 2018, our staff built small solar panels that can be used to charge a cell phone or other small electronic device when a power outlet is unavailable. Our finished products were donated to Chez Doris, a daytime shelter for women in difficulty, located in downtown Montreal.

Old Brewery Mission

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, employees helped out at the Old Brewery Mission, a homeless shelter, in Montreal. Using paid volunteer hours that make up a part of the firm’s CSR policy, the group rolled up their sleeves and helped in the kitchen by serving up food to its diners after presenting a monetary donation from RealTerm Energy.
